#46 Danny, "Radio"

On the radio like oh oh oh-oh-ohh

As I've said before, I thought "Radio" was pretty underwhelming the first time I heard it--Danny on auto-pilot, as it were, when the debut single from a second album should be something pretty special. As I've also said, with time, my opinion of it only grew and grew. Dance-pop from the Danny school (technically, the Danny-singing-a-Michel-Zitron-and-2N-song school), my love for for Danny and the song was only increased by the video below...

...which not only endeared Danny to me even more (to quote, "Total goofball stuff--and sadly pretty much what I'm like when listening to songs I love. 35 seconds that are near guaranteed to make you smile. I love it when popstars can be just as dorky as I can") but also really made me conscious of the guitar line running throughout the whole song, something which made "Radio" click a bit more for me. Plus, anything that increases the number of dancing and miming along options is a good thing.

and yet despite all this goofball brilliance that irrationally makes me grab my computer screen and yell "Kiss me danny", i still love the acoustic version best. Now if i could just get around to doing the album review before he goes back to EMD...

Paul, I'm glad you enjoy the acoustic version of "Radio"--it doesn't really work for me, but it's good that it provides added value for some people! He really doesn't have very much time at all before E.M.D. will be back again.

Aww, thats pretty cute. I've never heard him speaking Swedish before. I didnt used to all that fussed about Swedish before, but its grown on me here (Turku has a big Swedish-speaking Finn community). The way they speak it here though is a bit different, they say the vowels like a Finn would, so it sounds even nicer. That is when I can tell the Finnish speaking and Swedish speaking apart! I know so little of both it just becomes labelled as 'foreign'.

Anyway, Danny. Love the song. I shall no doubt return to Stockholm at some point, in which case I'll defo be buying the album :) And bring on EMD, nothing wrong with them :) Although I see what you mean, too many eggs in one basket perhaps?

Were there any mixes for "Radio"?

I have hopes for the E.M.D. song, so I'm fine with their return in that sense! Keira, I LOVE hearing little language anecdotes like that. I was close enough to Finland while in Sweden that there were some Finnish speaking people there, but they (well, the people I met) never really spoke Finnish (at least not around me!), and I would've loved to hear more of it.

Anonymous, not that I've heard or seen, which is a shame. The only "related tracks" out there are the acoustic version Paul mentioned (an album bonus track) and an instrumental version on the CD single.

In other Danny news, apparently the next single is "All On You" and is already out (with artwork but no tracks but that song) digitally but comes out physically Jan. 29. I haven't bought it yet, but from the looks of it it's had a radio edit that's brought it from a little over three minutes to about two and a half minutes long. Why you need to edit down a three minute song, I've got no idea.
