I take my tears and send them back to you

Random song/artist recommendation: Lisette Vares.

She describes her style as "Pop/Disco House/Rock." She lists her influences as Da Buzz, Cascada, September, and Kelly Clarkson. So, what can you expect from Lisette?

Well, I'm not entirely sure, since she's currently filming a music video for a new song later this September; that song could sound like anything. But her MySpace songs switch between dance pop, dance pop with some Cascada-esque beats (only one song really meets that description, I think, and it's better than Cascada-haters are probably expecting), and the song I'd recommend most, "Runaway" (though all the songs there are good to great; "Dream Of Love" is probably my second favorite at the moment--no, now I think it's "Together We Lost"--but I really like "I Kärlekens Namn," too! I give up)--not a Sahlene cover, but if I had to try to peg it to a subgenre of pop, I guess it'd go in whatever subgenre of pop Sahlene's "Runaway" goes in. I'm not sure that it technically counts as pop-rock, but it's got maybe a bit of influence from that--basically, upbeat pop.

So, who is she? A Swedish singer and songwriter (and dancer, and model...probably more!) who, among other things, did backing vocals and dancing for Malta at this past year's Eurovision at the request of Thomas G:son. She also competed in an international song contest with "Runaway."

I don't use MySpace, so I'm not sure if the post called "Need a break" means there's been a change of plans, but I'll be very interested to hear more from (or about) her.

Don't know if you spend any time listening to Svenska Favoriter on internet radio, but they've been featuring Lisette's myspace friend and fellow Jönköping resident Jonathan Fagerlund in fairly heavy rotation the past few weeks. His single "Angeline" is the kind of melodic midtempo pop I think you'd enjoy.

Oh, I didn't even notice them being friends--neat! And you know my music taste well :) I do love "Angeline"! I mentioned him on another blog I used to write for, but I can't believe I haven't featured him here yet--maybe not post the song, but at least mention him. I can't wait to hear the full version of "Playing Me" from his MySpace! I didn't know he was getting a good deal of radio play--I'm surprised (not sure why), but that's definitely a good thing.

hej , thanx to you I discovered Svenska Favoriter , but I freaking can't figure out how to check who's singing at the very moment, like playlist or something

"Together We're Lost" is actually a cover. It was a huge hit for Swedish singer Erika in the early 90's. It's a great track!

If I'm remembering correctly, the name of the song and singer used to be displayed, but it isn't anymore :( Or at least doesn't work for me anymore. It's gotten so I've taken to recording whenever I'm listening to Swedish (or other language) radio stations in hopes of being able to listen back and pick up bits and pieces of lyrics that let me figure out enough to Google the song.

Really? I had no idea! I'll have to go look her up--and see what else she's done. Thanks!

It doesn't work for me either, and it's really lame because most of them songs are really good and I would like to get to know about them more, + not knowing a word in Swedish makes it impossible for me to try and google the lyrics lol

I know maybe three Swedish words, and sadly "tack," "och," and "jag" usually don't happen to appear right next to each other in songs too often ;) The more you listen, the more you start to get familiar with songs, though, and voices, which helps.
