Like a hero

Comments from me later!

Edit: YES! YES!!! YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!! YES!!!

Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you Sweden!

Back in a bit!

Edit again:

Linda!

Charlotte!

Ahhhhhhh! Amazing! The songs, the singers, the votes!

Still running on high at the moment...more later! For now, though, I'll say that 1.) "this is a story/of love and compassion/only heroes can tell" may be my favorite line of the year, and 2.) there's this moment I love, this pause and this look from Linda right before the key change, where you could just see her thinking "I'm going to nail this and prove I can do it--prove to all the doubters that I can sing!" Revenge for '05.

I like 'Hero' and I think it's the best in the competition - but I don't think it's "amazing". It definitely isn't better than 'Cara Mia'.

Haven't we heard it all before?

Oh, I love it! Love it love it love it! Ahhhhh! Charlotte and Linda! (though I know you don't think much of schlager)

I'll be back with something more intelligible to say when I've calmed down and stopped alternately bouncing off the walls and collapsing now that all my nervousness is gone.

I've only had chance to watch Linda's performance so far, but it was nothing short of amazing. I loved the bit where she runs into the camera and also the one where she looks so happy and bouncy after having nailed the key change! Superb!

Too fabulous! Both of them! This year, Sweden really will be the new Sweden if we send either one of them.

Wow, it looks like Melodifestivalen 2008 finalen will be FORMIDABLE! If I were Carola I'd be thinking about catching a bad cold this week so I could step out of the Andra Chansen completely.

Out of the eight songs so far that have gone direkt to Globen, I would say five are VERY strong. This could be one of those years where the Swedish national finals are more competitive than the whole shebang at Eurovision....

I've never been a Charlotte fan, I've never been a Linda fan, but both won me over tonight and deserved to go direct to Globen. Well done girls!

I've now had a chance to see Charlotte's performance and, like Linda's, it was absolutely fantastic. I have to say I still prefer Linda's entry and will be hoping that it wins in Stockholm, but the MF final is going to be, as Len said, possibly better than Eurovision itself. We have 'BengtzingSchlager' in the personae of the great Linda herself and Amy Diamond, 'Modern Schlager' with BWO and Charlotte and a fabulous ballad from the lovely Sanna. Bring on March 15!

Its good to see Linda bringing those Rachel Steven's styled gloves back to pop music. I preferred Charlotte's song but both ladies looked amazing!

Oh my god! Charlotte was amazing. She starts to look more and more like an amazing drag queen though. Vocally she was stunning and I was even amazed that Linda managed the key change, I think she's been perfecting her technique as she didnt sound out of breath either. Good on both of them and well done Sweden for making the right choices for the final and the another chance round.

Måns was supposed to sing "Hero", wasn't he? I can hear him singing that, to be honest. Little weird, but that would be good.

What a great round. Bring on Andra Chansen!

Eurovisionessex: yes! Me too! So much--and when she did that running-to-the-camera moment in her winning performance, I loved the little happy jump and click of her heels she did! It was such an incredibly strong performance from her--full of confidence and energy and the ability to completely completely draw you in.

It really will! Oh, I've got my fingers crossed...

You're absolutely right, Len--it's fantastic! The only song I don't like is Christer's and, as you say, it goes even further than that--there are multiple very strong contenders for the title this year!

Yay! I did know how you felt...so the fact that they won you over makes it even better :D

They did! I loved how they both looked as well, though I'd kind of like to steal Linda's outfit more.

I think you're right, Jamie--Linda must have been getting real training over the past two years, and it shows. And you're right, Charlotte was in completely stunning vocal form.

Yeah, there were so many rumors about him and "Hero" but I don't know if we ever found out for sure what happened--Måns in the end said he turned it down (he'd said in the past he'd only enter again in 2008 if the song was 400 times better than "Cara Mia" or something like that), but some people said he actually lost out and it wasn't a matter of him pulling out of contention at all. Who knows. I'd be interested to hear his version of "Hero," just kind of out of curiosity's sake (I'm glad Charlotte got it--her vocals in that key change are just a-maz-ing); like you, I can kind of imagine it.

"Hero" = AMAZING!

BTW. This is the only website my mother checks every day aside from her internet banking one. She calls it the Eurovision website.

NICELY SPOTTED jump! on the rachel gloves!

That's so cool! Thank her for me! :D Ha ha, it totally is all about Eurovision right now--I can never do things part way.

And YES! It is! I'm so glad you like it too :D I find myself hoping France doesn't end up pulling in some of the amazing potential names being floated as rumors because I now have this dream scenario of a certain Swedish singer winning the crown for her country twice...
