Apropos of nothing, but could Alex Vargas please release "Diamonds In The Dirt" or license it out to someone else already? Preferably the former, though I still think it'd be a great Idol winner's song in the vein of Aleksander Denstad With's "A Little Too Perfect." I need a high quality version of it already--it's been a year and a half! I got all excited when another of his songs ("All The Way," which he released a great acoustic version of) cropped up on Swedish Idol winner Markus Fagervall's debut album, thinking that would mean we'd get to hear more of his songs out there in the released world, but I've not heard anything else yet. C'mon Alex, Chris Braide (one of its writers)--do something with it!
(His MySpace is here, but there are no songs playing on it--why, I have no idea, and at any rate, "Diamonds In The Dirt" hasn't been up for quite some time.)

this comment is a comment on your Ninja comment and the last three posts :) Phew! Ok ~ I think i misrepresented myself. I DO like Ninja a lot. The album is great - and yes it's a solid pop album. It's a lot of fun, it's catchy, it's well done and it's melodic, all things i like in pop music. In fact, a lot of acts from DSTP (and here actually) I end up loving, if not straight away ~ Jonas, Sergey, Isabel Guzman, etc... I think my comment was more directed at the fact that Bobbsypops thinks she is better than Robyn and for him thats a REALLY bold claim as that is his fave artist. I can't imagine someone coming out whose album i love (say Simon Curtis) and saying oh hes better than Deborah Gibson. Though now i've typed that i can kinda see where Bobs is coming from cos Simon's latest stuff is better than Deb's latest stuff (new stuff pending!!) Oh my i'm confused :P
Anyway, I certainly don't feel that this album is being foisted upon me as the next big thing. Yes I have felt that to a certain extent with Robyn, Darren and Roisin, but the difference was there (except Robyn who i just don't get at all!) is that I like Darren H and i like Moloko and Roisin and actually really persevered with their albums because I really wanted to like them. And they are not bad albums at all. In fact some songs are tres bon. It's just for me the overall product seemed a bit like a chore to get through and add to that the constant media "you must like this or you are insane" and i just thought, ugh i can't be bothered anymore!!
OK, moving on! Britney ~ I guess some people will love the album and others won't. I did in fairness listen to it 3 times before i wrote my mini review up and listened to my v fave britney songs (Overprotected and Toxic) to get me in the mood. I just thought it was very boring and monotonous. Which as a reason is totally going to conflict with what i write next!
BSB! I think my current tastes in music is reflective of my life at the moment. A year or so ago when i started really liking Simon C and discovering all these cute little indie bands (Upper Room, Feeling, Captain, Blagg, etc) I felt a bit in a rut and wanted something different from the norm that wasn't r'n'b flavoured grooves with obligatory rap, that wasn't the latest Mariah album or Beyonce... something that was a bit new and exciting (to me anyway!) Cut to life now where work is utterly insane, parents situation is all over the place, dazpants is not too well, and i crave familiarity and comfort and that is what i get from BWO's latest, Delta Goodrem, and yes even the BSB album. Music has always reflected where I am in life and at the moment I am happy to be stuck in a timewarp and out of touch with current trends :P
Oy vey! That was a lot of typing! This better work now :P And yes, Mans haircut is superlovely. I like it a lot!! hahahahahaha. Oh and the latest two boys you've posted ~ yum to music and them!
Paul, I've e-mailed you as well, but basically, I love this comment :) We can totally disagree on some stuff--though I think on Britney so far I'm somewhere in the middle, not loving all the songs but really liking some of them. One thing, though, and I really hope my comments didn't make it sound this way, but--though I love reading the whys behind the music you enjoy--I hope I didn't make it sound like you had to justify your tastes at all! Because no one should have to. Goodness knows I have quite a few songs and artists I like for reasons no one else understands and that even I don't...
Me? I like carrots....
Me? Its all about the cucumber!
Oh and the pop bubbles!
D'luv in fact, I raise your carrot and raise it with a banana!

"SHOW US YOUR BANANAS!"
Oh my...
Speaking of bananas...

Resa showed this to me a few days ago and I very nearly posted it here because it's replaced those Girls Aloud jokes as the funniest thing I've seen in a while--one of Mihai Trăistariu's pre-Eurovision group's songs. Seemingly impossibly, it gets more bizarre as it goes on.
So I think we can conclude that banana-themed pop videos are always pretty dubious?
