Oh, you better believe it, we all need it

I'm in rather fantastically fantastic mood at the moment (and apparently I'm in the mood to use that word multiple consecutive times as well) and was looking for a song that sort of suits that. Now, I don't know about you all, but I don't normally associate Andreas Johnson with "wow, I'm in a great mood! What should I listen to?" sort of music. My favorite songs of his are almost always the more dramatic ones (like "Glorious" or "Go For The Soul," though I suppose that doesn't fit in that category quite as well) and occasionally his more subdued ones, but I usually don't rate his shamelessly upbeat songs like "A Little Bit Of Love" or "Sing For Me" that highly (not that I dislike them, but for me they've just always paled compared to what they've been up against in Melodifestivalen). In the hands of a good remixer, though, that completely changes; the song I'm posting today is probably my favorite of his that I've heard.

A Little Bit Of Love (PJ Harmony Remix Version)--I wish I knew more about the types of dance music and could describe better the style of this remix. As is, all I can say is that it doesn't sound totally "dance," though the tempo's certainly been kicked up, there are more electronic elements, and Andreas's voice is occasionally played about with in a remix-like fashion. I wish I knew how to describe the original version of "A Little Bit Of Love" (and, by extension, "Sing For Me") as well; there must be some sub-genre of pop it falls into, but I'm not sure what it's called. It's this cheesy sort of pop-rock almost, but that's not quite right, because "cheesy pop-rock" sounds exactly like something I should love. Whatever--it's hard to go wrong with cheesy dance-popping songs up a bit, but this is an example of how a remix can hugely improve on the original, maybe taking it to half-anthemic status (see also: Natasha Bedingfield's "The One That Got Away [Valentin Radio Mix]," Kate DeAraugo's "Faded [Reactor Mix]," and, yes, again, Stephanie McIntosh's "Mistake [Jewels & Stone Radio Edit]").

To buy Andreas Johnson's single "A Little Bit Of Love," which contains this remix, go here (physical) or here (digital).

Next up: I'll try to post something by an artist I haven't written about before--an American or British group, I think.

wow that does completely change the song! I've never been a big fan of remixes but lately it's interesting to see how songs are reinterpreted. I wish Andreas would make it big over here again...

You never know, I guess! It'd be surprising, but never say never, especially if he ever makes it to Eurovision.
