I don't have a heart for you right now

We all like Jessica Folcker, yes? And we all like catchy upbeat dance-pop remixes, yes?

Then run over to Tip Top Pop this moment and grab the Jonathan Peters mix of Jessica Folcker's "To Be Able To Love." It is 8 minutes long, but it's worth it! The opening is sort of dark, edgy, beat heavy, and good, but wait 'til you get to that chorus...

(Wikipedia says the song in this remixed version became a club hit in the U.S., and it would definitely deserve to have done so, so a lot of people probably already know this version, but it's new to me.)

Yeah, this was big about six or seven years ago in clubs. I always thought it's original, single version was unappreciated here, and shoulda been a massive mainstream hit.

I'm not sure that it means much coming from me, but I definitely agree--the original seems like something that would've fit in really well on the radio, both top 40 and even on "adult contemporary" sort of stations.

And, as you may know, she was the girlfriend of the late Denniz Pop, the mentor of Max Martin who crafted the big, early hits of Ace Of Base, Dr. Alban and Backstreet Boys. Sadly, he died in '98 from cancer, at the age of 35.

I know :(

I'll definitely look out for that song and the single! Thanks for all the background, too.
