See your face in every magazine

Is this the new Gareth Gates single cover?

(Taken from eBay, via his forum.)

Possibly. According to HMV and Amazon, the b-side is "Lovesong." It is a very nice picture--but then, covers have never really been a problem for Gareth, at least from his second album era:

He was the undisputed king of popstar hair. And I won't even be argued with.

OK, I'm done.

(If it makes it any better, I just sought out those pictures for this post...)

Also on the topic of Gareth: why did no one tell me that Fredrik Kempe covered "With You All The Time"?! And even remixed it into what sounds like amazing dance-pop (based on the clip, which isn't itself hugely amazing but sounds like it's building up to something great) ?

I bought that "Say It Isn't So" CD single (the very first one in your post) at London's Gatwick Airport when it came out... sadly, the title was prophetic, given how his career went after that album.

mr d'luv! you can't say that here in the presence of such gatelovers!! Every single one of GG's singles has gone top five :) Hurrah! It's not his fault they got cold feet when they could have release epic tracks like Skeletons and Foolish!! I quite like the new single cover - it's as elegant as the track is but it's not quite at the inappropriate rar-ness of Sunshine

Sure!

Lovely song, lovely cover :) I think that one has a "Sunshine" remix as a b-side? I think I prefer that cover to the one of him on the beach, but the other one's b-sides were great. Speaking of song titles, I'm very worried some day I'm going to end up quoting "All Cried Out."

The singles thing that you pointed out is so weird, Paul--and I'm surprised that his record company didn't release at least one more single; yes, the album went in at #11 (I think--didn't check, so I could be wrong), but that's not exactly horrible (a1 made an entire three album career with no album charting above #14 but singles hovering in the top 5 or just barely outside of it) and there were just so many potential singles on that album.

I'll say it: Gareth Gates: rubbish!

When is he going to fix that gap and cut that hair? It might've been cute when was 17, but now it's just sad.

Well, I'd agree with the hairstyle he had when he was 17--super-gelled, countable number of spikes--not a good look. And I'm pretty sure he has cut his hair now--it's no buzz cut, but it's definitely less spikey than it used to be (sadly). Gosh, the fact that I can classify his haircuts...

I'll stand by "Anyone Of Us" being a pop classic, and his second album was far better than the first.

There's always room for disagreement about music, though--not everyone likes pop, let alone the same pop artists, and I can't imagine a world where that's not the case. Still, considered disagreement can be a very good thing--ultimately, I know it's unlikely discussing music is going to end up changing someone's mind about the quality of it, because it's so often an instinctive judgement, but it can help you pinpoint what you do and don't like about an artist, letting you know what to look for when looking for new ones and helping your own thoughts about the artist coalesce. I can't speak for everyone, but, in more general (not just music) terms, sometimes it's being forced to argue my case that helps me understand what that case actually is.

Was there something untrue I said about his career following that album, Pablo? If I'm not mistaken, the label didn't issue anymore singles never put anything out again by him... that's all I meant. Even the most devout Gaz fan can face that wicked truth of reality.

But, yeah, bravo for getting a second chance this time around...

I'm not sure what Paul meant, but I didn't take anything bad from what you were saying...and anyway, even if it was snarky (which I didn't think it was :) ), I can handle snark!

like it too. Very much. The colors are great, although it was more interesting to see your photo, which I notice you now have on facebook too.
