British R&B singers are on a roll recently--first Craig David's still excellent "Closer"/"Disturbia"/"Forever"-plus mishmash "Insomnia" that I wrote about a few days ago...
...and now Lemar's "If She Knew." Not quite as danceable, but very strong. It's a song I've found myself returning to over the past few days. If honey for the ears was actually an enjoyable thing, that's what this song would be, despite the anguished sentiment behind it.

That raig David track is really Ace!
That probably should say Craig David!
The Lemar track is really good, and not that much of a retread of other songs out there. Having said that, the blatantly retread from CD is one of my favorite songs at the moment. Craig's been truly underrated, and deserves a second chance in the US. If this song doesn't break through, he's through.
Neither song is reallly my cup of tea but I love the fact that urban music is incorporating dance elements. Chris Brown's "Forever" and Michelle Williams' "Break The Dawn" are perfect examples.
Insomnia really is Disturbia/Forever Part 2 lol! but its good :)
Ha, Aaron, spell his name any way you like--it is!
John, I agree--I love his voice and really couldn't be more thrilled that he's again getting material worthy of it; this post was originally only supposed to be about the Lemar song, but I love "Insomnia" so much that I just had to write about it a second time.
Mike, me too! Both excellent songs--it's a really exciting development, I think. At least one of those two was successful :-/
It is, definitely with some "Closer" thrown in, but I love it despite (and for) that anyway ;)
