Because I continue to believe that someone who made as great an album as Heart.Beats wouldn't toss all that away to join an ill-advised boy band that had no musical value, I'm kind of half-paying attention to E.M.D., the Swedish boy band that Danny Saucedo, Erik Segerstedt, and Mattias Andréasson (all off of Idol) are part of in the hopes that they'll end up coming up with something a whole heck of a lot better than that "All For Love" cover they put out. The latest news from them and the reason for this post is that they've got a new single coming out. They'll be performing it on Let's Dance tonight (with Danny just having been kicked off the show), the song will go to radio on March 24, and it'll be available for purchase April 7 (digitally) and 9 (physically).
The bad news? It's called "Jennie Let Me Love You." With that title, I'm already imagining another song that sounds just like their cover of "All For Love." Let's hope I'm wrong. Danny's official site is trying to sell it all positively, saying that it was written by Michel Zitron, who co-wrote "If Only You." However, as FANTASTIC as I think "If Only You" is, if you changed the arrangement and produced it differently, you wouldn't have that much trouble turning it into a generic power ballad a la "All For Love" (which would not be a good thing, in case there were any doubts)--in other words, I'm not taking anything for granted given the style this group has shown themselves to be pursuing in the past, but would happily accept having my doubts proved to be misplaced.
The album's currently predicted to come out in May.

this is all a bit dissapointing :( I'd rather have a new Danny solo album coming out than this... He had huge succes with all of his three singles, two of them peaking at no1 in the Swedish Charts... why isn't he continuing at his own?
You will love the song, girl! ;)
It's not a ballad. LOL!
i'm scared. Particularly as i'm just really getting into Danny's album. Still i'll try to keep an open mind. It's just weird. It would be like Mika joining up with Andy Scott Lee to form a boy band. Why?! (actually that would be quite aces)
That did really confuse me too--it's not like his solo career was a flop!
YAY! Fantastic news! Thanks, Alex :D
Ha ha, nice analogy, Paul! Anyway, it's a great album.
I must say I really loved All For Love in the end..
I've never been able to properly warm to it because I've been perpetually afraid of an album sounding all like that (which would be a big comedown from the solo careers of its members). If, on the other hand, it ended up as part of a great pop album that wasn't all power ballads, I might end up changing my feelings on it.
Oh poster Girl ! You're so right !! How come a talentfull artist such as Danny is a member of such a talentless band ??
The first song sucked. Hope the 2nd one will be better.
Anyway, i still have a stronge hope Danny comes back with a brand new solo album as good as heart beats !
Shut up, JOnathan.. they are not talentless. You stupid cunt.
SOrry for the harsh words, popgirl.
Oh, let's play nice...I imagine (and Jonathan can correct me if I'm wrong!) that "talentless" was being used not really in the sense of how well they can sing but how good their music is--I think it's a misunderstanding that's partially my fault anyway; my post might make my opinion on them sound harsher than it is (that's the danger of using "I don't think something can be this" instead of "I think something is this" when you're describing something), plus I didn't really talk about the other two members at all (which is bad on my part, since, for example, Erik's "2 Happy 2 Soon" was good).
Anyway, I think we can all agree that 1.) Danny had some GREAT solo material, and 2.) it would be nice if EMD, since they do seem to be sticking together for now, end up coming up with some good songs, since some good songs from somewhere is always a good thing. I would love another Heart.Beats-like album from Danny when EMD take a break, though!
Kevin, you've made your views on Danny and his album pretty well known here and elsewhere and even "anonymously," but I'm surprised to hear you say that mainly because I thought you liked Mattias on Idol--or did he end up disappointing you?
I did think of mentioning that about his album, but I didn't think the album did awfully or anything, even if not amazingly either--not as well as, say, Måns, but better than Erik, and easily better than Ola's first album, and Ola still got a second solo album (if we're just sticking to Swedish boy pop singers for examples)...then again, Ola's with Aristotracks, right? Is that a subsidiary of a bigger label, or is it a smaller label that would be happy with less sales?
