File this in the "random song recommendations" category, I guess, given that I don't know anywhere where most people can buy it: Aura's "Something From Nothing."(You can listen to it on her MySpace, which has some...umm...rather strange photos.)
It's maybe a little more singer-songwritery than some of the stuff I post, but it's positively lovely.
I don't know that much about Aura at all, except that she's from Denmark, Kenneth Bager (not that I love everything he's done, but I keep meaning to write about him--in regards to his own releases, or at least most recent album, think spacey music that manages to sound both electronic and organic) co-produced the song, and that "Something From Nothing" has been floating around Denmark download charts for the past few months. I actually didn't think that much of it the first time I heard a clip, but the first time I heard the full version, I was really drawn to it. I guess if I had to try to choose the mood of it, I'd go for "sweetly sad."
Anyhow, if you happen to live in Denmark, you can buy "Something From Nothing" from iTunes (or several other digital music stores). I think her debut album is scheduled to come out this October.

Aura did a cover of Kim Wilde's "You Came" which was pretty sparkly, back in 2000 or 2001. She was kind of being marketed as a Britney-type back then, image-wise.

Ooh! But You Came is one of my fave kimmy songs. I used to walk round for ages as well after My Best Friends Wedding shouting Kimmy! Just like the mad homeless woman at the football ground toilets. That made no sense to nobody and i can't have another unrelated PG comment, so i found this song to be most lovely especially as I had to pause Believe In The Boogie to listen to it so it had a lot to live up to!
Yeah, I was trying to find out more about her and stumbled across that Aura, but couldn't find any place saying the two were connected, and since I think I saw a word that looked like it could be the Danish version of "debut," I just sort of guessed this is a different one. But this other Aura is worth checking out, at least a little?
