I'm still standing for hope and glory

Would you believe I MISSED THE MELODIFESTIVAL FINAL on Saturday? No, I can't either. I think that's got to be the first sign of the apocalypse. Huge apologies for not doing any sort of write-up before or immediately after it--I fully planned to, wanted to, and don't know how I'm going to get all this energy, a mixture of tension and excitement, out of my system since I didn't do that.

I'm watching it right now and I've managed to avoid finding out the result up to this point. I'll be on blog/e-mail/comments embargo until I've finished.

Don't worry, honey, I missed Semi 3 this way, being on unrelated party instead. Also tried to re-create the atmosphere later.

Now I'm happy at least that Mr. K. is coming to my city, and I'm going to meet him in person!

I hope you find it as heart-stoppingly exciting as I did. Today I am rather hoarse, and it took me a while to admit to myself that I had been screaming at the computer for the last hour of the MF broadcast. The ONLY ESC-related event where the voting was as exciting as the performances....

Agreed. That was some good tv. The most exciting MF I've seen yet!

Kevin, given how much you love his own material, that's got to be fantastic for you. I can't figure out whether missing the live final made the fact that I wasn't seeing it in person easier or more difficult to cope with, but I'm glad I'm not alone in having missed out on part of the MF process.

Len, absolutely yes! I get so worked up and expressive during even the semifinals that the final is in its own galaxy.

It was must-see Eurovision TV at its finest. The variation in results from different parties, the relative openness of the final, the overall quality...is it too soon to start counting down the days until next year's?

Paul, don't worry ;) I'll be doing some writing about it (*review appears five years later along with thoughts on Erik Hassle's album*).

Hey!

I did a Velvet interview over the weekend and uploaded it to www.scandipop.co.uk

Any chance you could publicise it?!
