I don't know what addictive hold you have on me

I can't say it enough: even if most of the disco and pop from Sweden usually tends to get a little too generic for you, give Agnes's "Release Me" (wisely the second single choice from Dance Love Pop and now with music video--embedded below) a try. It's classy, breezy modern disco, a string-featuring breath of fresh air with a chorus that sounds like the best day you've ever had. Pure joy in song form.

The song can be purchased from all countries' iTunes music stores here, as can the whole album.

Speaking of "Release Me," Nikki of Pop Reviews Now has started her countdown of her favorite songs of 2008. I adore this year end rundowns in general and am looking forward to Nikki's in particular--follow along here or via the main blog itself.

"Release Me" is a great choice for the second single. I purchased the album based on your recommendation and have been very pleased with it. :)

I know I've suddenly become Per Gessle's fan club, but if I had to pick between "Silly" and "Release Me" to have a better chance in the U.S., it would be Agnes by a mile. She's like a more lively Leona.

Yuri, that's great news! I'm sure Agnes and her record company would appreciate it :D

Really? See, John, now you've just given me more reason to let my hope keep springing eternal.

I love it so far! And it HAD to be, didn't it?

It really did, Aaron, and I do too--I bet they didn't have the biggest budget, but it's not one of those blah Swedish music videos that a lot of the mainstream artists end up coming up with and it doesn't leave you thinking "oh, that was low budget." The dance scenes are just so happy, too!

Well, "Release Me" is one of my beloved songs on this album and as everyone likes this song it was a good choice though more I'm in love with "Don't Pull Your Love Out" and "Love Me Senceless" :)

Video is nice, Agnes almost always has good videos. That's pity she is not in duet with Marie Serneholt on MF as it was expected, but if we'll get Marie as joker then we'll have 2 great entries - it's not bad at all :)

Nice to see another russian pop-fan in this blog :)

Those are both good songs, too, Damian! I also like "Look At Me Now" as a sort of spiritual follow-up to some of her best songs from earlier albums (like "Stranded"). I'm really really hoping Marie's in the contest!
