The last thing I saw was you

Very quick post with minimal description since my headphones are currently malfunctioning (only playing sound in one ear--why does this happen so often to me?). Norwegian singer Sondre Lerche is maybe a little more...lo-fi or folky or indie sounding than the music I usually post, but the following song is a nice compact catchy punchy little pop song (even if it comes from his supposedly "rock" album, 2007's Phantom Punch); the chorus gets stuck in my head way too easily. If I'm remembering correctly, he just recently did the soundtrack for the movie Dan In Real Life, but he's been releasing music since 2001-ish.

To buy Sondre Lerche's album Phantom Punch, go here (physical) or here (digital). It's also available on iTunes stores throughout the world.

Next up: maybe that American songwriter.

well i'll give you this. Phantom Punch is a great name for an album :) Oh that picture creeps me out a little bit, like he is a bit mentally unstable and is planning some horrible act *runs and hides under the bed covers*

I've liked Sondre ever since his debut album, "Faces Down". He tries to veer off into indie-land, but his heart is pure Bacharach-vintage melodic pop. What do you think of his original single "You Know So Well"?

I HATE when that happens with headphones... it's not just you! It happened to me on a trip up north to Monterey last month, and I had to go to a drug store and pay $20 for new iPod headphones.

I just got a screener of Dan In Real Life and noted that Sondre did the original music for it. The movie sucked, though, so I didn't watch more than 45 minutes of it.

Paul, he is probably planning what he's going to do to anyone who doesn't like the song ;)

Yeah, that's a great way of putting it! Disguised as it might be, he really is a great pop artist with a real love for melodic pop, I think. "You Know So Well" is really truly great.

It's SO annoying! Yay for empathy, though. Part of me is "just shell out the money for some new headphones now; it'll drive you crazy otherwise," but then the other (cheap) part says "if you wait just a few weeks, you can get them cheaper, and a few more and maybe you can convince someone to get some for Christmas for you."

If you ever get a chance to see Sondre live, I highly recommend his shows. I've seen him at the Troubadour in LA about five times since 2001, both as a solo and with his backing band, and once at the Hollywood Bowl. He's very charming and really pours his heart into every performance.

HOT track. RIGHT up my alley. Girl, you have been on FIRE this year.

How MANY more random words can I place in CAPITAL LETTERS for the remains of THIS post?

Apparently, four.

Oh, Len, you've got me jealous now! I'd love to see him live--it's great to hear that his shows are as good as I'd hoped they'd be. I think I need to move to the East or West Coast, somewhere where I can actually get to those sorts of things...

Fantasic! :D SO glad you like it. Oh, oops--that wasn't even intentional!
