You can look hotter than TNT, you could lie, say you're with MTV

Maybe I shouldn't like the latest single by Latvian singer Elina Furmane, currently going by just Ella (or DJ Ella). In the past, she's covered Malin Schavenius's 2004 (Norwegian) Melodi Grand Prix entry "Sunshine" (which is co-written by Anna Sahlene) and has entered her own Eurovision national final several times, including in 2006 with the Thomas G:son-penned "Heaven In Your Eyes." Don't expect this song to be like either of those, though (though I wouldn't be adverse to her recording some more songs in that vein)...

Welcome To The Club--as you'd probably expect from the title, this song is definitely more clubby dancefloor-type. I know it could quite easily face accusations of being generic and I'm not promising that I'll still be listening to it in a year, but it's a good of-the-moment track. And really, as we've established before, throw enough nonsense syllables in a song (in this case, "ah-ah ah-ah"s) in something and I'm sold. It definitely fills my occasional need for some cheesy lyrics, too. I'm quite sure it would completely flop some place like the UK, but I like it--it's catchy enough for me.

To buy Ella's single "Welcome To The Club," go here (physical).

Oh, and tiny bit of Swedish news I forgot to mention in the post below this: I know I posted "B.I.T.CH." a little while back, but apparently DeDe's real new single is "Turn You On" with Pras out of the Fugees. I'll admit, I'm not an expert on her at any stretch, but suffice to say I'm...umm...very surprised at the sound of this single.

Next up: I know it's been very dance around here, but coming up soon will be some singers--including that German one, eventually--who are more pop-rock. Oh, and there needs to be at least brief discussion of a certain chart placing...

gosh it's not ace, but it's very now and one of those songs that you will remember exactly what summer you were playing it in. if that makes any sense. Like OMC How Bizarre.

Hi,

PG thank you so much for your info in that reply. I have added this website in my favourites and every morning I wonder what ace pop I'll have go and buy come pay day.

I just ordered Robyn's entire back catalog because of DontStopThePop! I had no idea she wrote my favourite Britney song "Over To You Now". Now I am buying Shirley Clamp because of you! I have got my French friends to order the Cd's as its a lot cheaper to import them from within Europe than it is the U.S!

Now all my friends know my music taste! I am blaming you. Thanks-my parties are gonna be sorted. I feel as if I've missed out on so much!

Is there anyway I can buy from other Itunes? Like the European stores. The American one sucks hard.

No, I know exactly what you mean! :)

Fantastic! You should love the Robyn stuff--"Be Mine!" has to be one of the best pop songs ever. And about iTunes: sadly not. Well, I think if you buy iTunes gift certificates from a different country and set up an account with an address in that country (any address should do), you can use the money from those gift certificates to buy from that country--it's doable (if you can find someone selling them on eBay or pick some up while travelling), but a hassle. To buy from a country's iTunes store, you need to have an address in that country to claim as yours (they don't check, so that's not difficult) and either a credit card from that country or an iTunes gift certificate from there. There are some other digital music stores--7Digital for UK stuff and Medion and Gucca for some other European stuff, for example--but often the exchange rates aren't favorable for us or the prices are higher and the songs come as protected WMAs and so won't play in iTunes unless you burn them to CD and then rip them back off of that CD--once again, doable but a hassle.

And ha ha--the world of blogs can be an expensive one ;)

DeDe did some song(s?) with Max Martin awhile back, and they were kinda dull. I don't know what relevance that info has to anything, but there you have it...

No, it's relevant! :)
