It kind of feels like it is or should be generic, and yet it ends up working for me anyway.Poster Girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07797812846936450135noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30794625.post-29995652656463110262007-12-26T10:48:00.000-05:002007-12-26T10:48:00.000-05:00I'm glad you included this. I almost did on mine, ...I'm glad you included this. I almost did on mine, and had my list gone to 12 instead of just 10, it probably woulda been #12, right after Sara Bareilles' "Love Song" at #11.

The only thing that irked me about it was how similar it was to "Too Little Too Late" by JoJo, but both had the same co-writer, so there you go.D'luvhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01920860522649391365noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30794625.post-44862367898796479742007-12-24T20:45:00.000-05:002007-12-24T20:45:00.000-05:00Yup, that's what I was thinking about its placing-...Yup, that's what I was thinking about its placing--and you said it so much more succinctly than me! :)Poster Girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07797812846936450135noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30794625.post-69611311223746082132007-12-24T18:58:00.000-05:002007-12-24T18:58:00.000-05:00I agree with you, PG. For an unknown artist, No. ...I agree with you, PG. For an unknown artist, No. 29 is not bad, but for an AI alumni, it's a flop.

I really wished Billboard got their act together and made the Hot 100 a chart based on sales and only sales. Who gives a fuck about airplay? Radio airplay stopped being relevant in 1992.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30794625.post-16630817953553054292007-12-23T22:20:00.000-05:002007-12-23T22:20:00.000-05:00I think it depends on your expectations. The song...I think it depends on your expectations. The song peaked at #29, which is a heck of a lot better than a lot of artists I like do, but I would've really liked to see it go top 10. This isn't a post to denigrate Katharine or her music career--which is I'm guessing what you're thinking and inspired you to comment; I'm saying the song (which I really like) didn't hugely take off. It didn't really "cross over" like I was hoping it would. The gold record thing is a good point, though. I would just be very surprised if the record executives truly viewed that as success at the level they wanted, though perhaps I'm viewing that in the light of the performance of the followup single.Poster Girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07797812846936450135noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30794625.post-33745557987010923162007-12-23T21:47:00.000-05:002007-12-23T21:47:00.000-05:00"Over It" hardly "flopped." It peaked at #20 on Me..."Over It" hardly "flopped." It peaked at #20 on Mediabase and has over 500,000 downloads on itunes. It's ready to be certified a gold record. That's not flopping, that's a successful single.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
